Vietnamese coffee chain Cộng Cà Phê will launch in the Philippines in February 2025 with an outlet at the Gateway 2 Mall in Quezon City.
Founded in 2007, Cộng Cà Phê currently operates 66 stores across Vietnam, 45 of which are in the country’s largest cities Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The coffee chain’s outlets feature 1970s era-inspired interior design and serve traditional Vietnamese coffee as well as more contemporary infused iced beverages.
The Philippines will be Cộng Cà Phê’s fifth international market. The Hanoi-based coffee chain made its international debut in Seoul, South Korea, in August 2018 and has since expanded its overseas presence to Malaysia, Canada and Taiwan. It currently operates 29 international sites – 23 of which are in South Korea.
World Coffee Portal’s Project Café East Asia 2024 report shows the Philippines is the eighth largest market in East Asia by outlets, with over 3,200 stores. The archipelagic nation has one of the fastest growing branded coffee shop markets in the region and has become an attractive destination for operators from neighbouring countries due to government tax incentives for foreign businesses and rapidly growing middle-income population.
Singaporean brunch-focused café chain Common Man Coffee Roasters, South Korean bakery-café chain Paris Baguette and Indonesian coffee giant Kopi Kenangan all launched in the Philippines in 2024, alongside Australian specialty coffee roaster and café group St. Ali, US doughnut and coffee chain Duck Donuts and Italy’s Cafè Barbera.
The total Filipino branded coffee shop market, currently led by US chains Dunkin’, Mister Donut and Starbucks, is forecast to exceed 5,200 outlets in 2028.
