Brazil’s Cerrado Coffee Growers Cooperative (Expocacer) achieved record 41% year-on-year growth in coffee exports during 2024.
In a press release, Minas Gerais-based Expocacer said it sold more than 550,000 60kg bags of coffee internationally last year at a value of approximately $138m. The cooperative has strengthened its international presence by opening commercial offices in South Korea and the UK, as well as launching a logistics hub in the US in February 2024.
“These actions have been crucial in expanding our competitiveness, optimising operations and boosting exports, allowing us to reach new markets and establish highly relevant strategic partnerships,” said Ítalo Henrique, Commercial Director, Expocacer.
Expocacer’s sales in Brazil reached $165m in 2024, with over 870,000 60kg bags sold.
One of Brazil’s largest coffee cooperatives, Expocacer currently works with 740 producers to export green coffee to more than 35 markets globally. Its largest international market is the US, which accounts for 15% of total exports. France, Belgium, Japan, Italy, the UK, Spain and South Korea are other key export markets.
Expocacer also achieved several sustainability and certification milestones in 2024, working to ensure its European supply chain with its first EUDR-compliant coffee shipments. Additionally, the cooperative shipped coffee to Europe using a no-carbon emission sailing ship and launched ECO By Expocacer, a sustainability protocol recognised by the Global Coffee Platform (GCP) as equivalent to its Coffee Sustainability Reference Code, which it says supports the primary principles of sustainable coffee production.
