Thailand’s PTT Oil and Retail Business (PTT OR) ramped up expansion of its Café Amazon coffee chain in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Bangkok-based PTT OR opened 299 net new Café Amazon outlets during the 12 months ended 31 December 2024 to reach 4,851 outlets across 11 markets globally. Of the new sites, 141 were opened during the fourth quarter.

In Thailand, PTT OR opened 91 net new Café Amazon stores in the fourth quarter to reach 4,430 outlets, 53% of which are in PTT OR-owned petrol stations. Thailand’s largest coffee chain has a 421-store international presence across Cambodia, China, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Oman, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.

Café Amazon is also set to expand its international presence further in 2025 after signing a master franchise agreement with Bashundhara Group in August 2024 to launch in Bangladesh.

The coffee chain forms part of PTT OR’s Lifestyle reporting segment, which also includes 124 Pacamera Coffee Roasters and Pearly Tea outlets and 2,300 JFi and 7-Eleven convenience stores.

The total segment achieved 8.2% year-on-year revenue growth in 2024, reaching THB 23.9bn ($711m). Food and beverage chains contributed 68% of the segment revenues, achieving 7.4% year-on-year sales growth to reach THB 16.2bn ($481.5m) – which PTT OR attributed to Café Amazon outlet expansion.

In an investor presentation, PTT OR said Café Amazon sold 402 million cups of coffee in 2024 – 8.4% higher than the previous year
