Malaysian bubble tea chain Tealive has announced plans to open up to 80 outlets in Thailand by 2035 after signing a licensing agreement with Bangkok-based Restaurants Development Co. (RD).

In a press release, Tealive parent company Loob Holding said RD’s experience operating more than 300 KFC fast-food restaurants in Thailand will provide a strong foundation for the brand’s outlet growth in the Southeast Asian country’s ‘vibrant’ tea market.

“Tealive, known for always offering more than tea, will introduce its lifestyle tea concept to Thailand, complementing the country’s rich tea culture with additional choices of handcrafted beverages like coffee, premium chocolate and fruit smoothies as well as Tealive’s famous snacks. RD is already present in hundreds of locations across the country, and Tealive will leverage this from the start. Actual store locations are still being finalised and, together, we aim for 80 outlets in 10 years,” said Bryan Loo, Founder and CEO, Loob Holding.

RD is a subsidiary of Indian franchise group Devyani International Limited (DIL), which signed a master franchise agreement with Tealive in November 2024 to bring the bubble tea brand to India.

Founded in 2017, Tealive currently operates over 900 outlets in Malaysia and nearly 100 additional stores across seven international markets. Alongside India and Thailand, Tealive is also preparing for a UAE launch as part of a master franchise agreement with Dubai-based Eureka Restaurant & Café.
