Ukrainian bakery-café chain Lviv Croissants has opened its first store in the Czech Republic at the Palladium Shopping Mall in Prague. 
 

The store is operated by franchisee Jozef Onderka, who also owns the iconic Café Slavia in Prague – an iconic meeting place for Czech writers, artists and political dissidents. 

Founded in 2015, Lviv Croissants currently operates more than 180 stores across its home market, alongside 10 bakeries in Poland and single sites in Slovakia and the US – where the brand launched in June and August 2024 respectively. 

Lviv Croissants also lists France, Germany, Turkey and the Baltics as ‘markets in development’ on its website. 

World Coffee Portal Project Café Europe 2024 research shows the total Czech branded coffee shop market comprises more than 400 outlets and is led by international brands McCafé and Starbucks with more than 70 and 50 stores respectively. 
 

Despite Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Lviv-based Lviv Croissants added 29 net new sites in its home market last year and is currently the only Ukrainian branded coffee chain operating abroad.
