Utah-based Beans & Brews Coffeehouse has appointed former Mooyah and Wingstop executive Doug Willmarth as CEO.

Willmarth assumed CEO responsibilities on 1 October 2024, succeeding Chad Gretzema who had been in the role since October 2023.

His immediate focus will be to grow the coffee chain’s franchise footprint in new US states. Beans & Brews currently operates 80 stores across Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Colorado.

“I am truly excited to join a company with such a strong legacy, distinctive product offering and loyal following. Beans & Brews has an incredible 30-year history of delivering exceptional coffee and customer experiences. I’m thrilled to be part of the next phase of its growth journey. My goal is to build the brand and bring the elevated product and connection of Beans & Brews to more communities across the country,” Willmarth said.

A former naval aviator, Willmarth began working in the hospitality industry in 2004 as a Senior Brand Manager for casual dining restaurant chain Chili’s. He went on to serve as Director of Brand for Yum Brands, Chief Marketing Officer for Wingstop Restaurants, Chief Brands Officer for Mongolian Concepts and, most recently, President for Texas-based restaurant chain Mooyah until September 2024.

Founded in 1993, Beans & Brews began franchising in 2004 and currently has more than 110 sites in development.
