Shipley Do-Nuts is set to expand its presence in Tennessee and Florida after signing a 22-unit franchise agreement with South Carolina-based Virentes Hospitality.
Texas-based Shipley Do-Nuts currently operates five stores in Tennessee and two sites in Florida. The first three stores of the Virentes Hospitality deal will be opened in 2025 in the cities of Nashville, Jacksonville and Tampa.
Virentes Hospitality, a subsidiary of private investment firm Virentes Partners Group, said partnering with Shipley Do-Nuts is part of its strategy to support ‘iconic, fast-growing brands’ and using its capital and operational expertise to accelerate their growth.
“We exhaustively researched dozens of franchise concepts to expand our hospitality portfolio, and Shipley came out on top. The Shipley team is committed to the brand and to franchisee success, with exceptional unit economics, a strong business model and opportunities for growth,” said Jim D’Aquila, Chief Investment Officer, Virentes Partners Group.
Founded in Houston in 1936, Shipley Do-Nuts currently has over 360 stores across 12 US states. The bakery-café chain has added more than 110 units to its development pipeline so far in 2024 and will enter two new states, North Carolina and Virginia, in the first quarter of 2025.
