Paris Baguette North America is seeking a master franchise partner to facilitate its expansion to Mexico.

In a press release, Paris Baguette North America CEO Darren Tipton said there was the potential to open over 100 stores in Mexico in the long-term and highlighted Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara as key growth markets.

The bakery-café chain is seeking to partner with a multi-unit or multi-brand master franchisee to launch in Mexico. Alongside outlet growth, the master franchisee will also assume responsibility for staffing, training, operations and marketing.

“The US and Canada markets have been incredibly welcoming to us. We believe that our community-centric approach and emphasis on quality will empower that same success in Mexico and other countries in the Americas,” Tipton said.

Owned by South Korean food and beverage giant SPC Group, Paris Baguette began operations in the US in 2005 and opened its first store in Canada in March 2023. The bakery café-chain currently operates 160 outlets in the US and four in Canada, with a further 100 sites in development across the two markets.

Mexico has become an attractive market for coffee chains seeking international expansion, with US operators Dunkin’ and Starbucks both achieving growth in the country through franchisees and Canada’s Tim Hortons investing $30m to reach 100 Mexican stores by the end of 2025.

Additionally, Filipino start-up Pickup Coffee opened its first store in Mexico in December 2023 while Colombia’s largest coffee chain Juan Valdez reentered to the market in February 2024 with an outlet in Yucatán.

SPC Group operates approximately 3,750 Paris Baguette stores in South Korea and has a further 500 bakery cafè sites across 10 international markets. In March 2024, the food and beverage group announced plans to strengthen its partnership with Marche-based Caffè Pascucci to open stores in Italy
