Northern Irish coffee chain Bob & Berts has appointed Dave Rayner as its new Regional Operations Manager for England to lead its roll out across the country.

Founded in Portstewart in 2013, Bob & Berts currently operates 27 UK stores – 15 in Northern Ireland and six in each of England and Scotland.

Following recent openings in Blackpool and Belfast, the value-focused coffee chain has announced it will open its 28th site in Wakefield, Yorkshire, on 25 September 2023.

Bob & Berts said further expansion across England forms part of its strategic growth plan. The business plans to maintain its ‘successful momentum’ in the country over the next 12 months, with new outlets expected in Rochdale, Burnley, Southport, Warrington and Liverpool.

“We’re eager to bring Bob & Berts’ signature style and welcoming service to the local community of Wakefield. Trinity Walk Shopping Centre is a fantastic location with family-friendly events taking place all year round. We see Yorkshire as a key growth area for us and Dave’s experience of both branded and independent operations will prove extremely valuable in helping us to reach more communities across England,” said Colin McClean, Founder of Bob & Berts.

In July 2023, Co-owner David Ferguson said the coffee chain had lifted its ‘long-term’ growth target from 50 to 70 stores following strong trading across its outlets.

Backed by UK investment company BGF, Bob & Berts achieved 58% sales growth in the 12 months ended 30 June 2022 to reach £17.8m ($22m).
