UK specialty coffee roaster and hospitality group Caravan has appointed Jamie Strachan as its new Head of Coffee.

Strachan joins B Corp-certified Caravan from London-based small batch specialty coffee roaster Darks Arts Coffee and succeeds Andrea Otte, who left the business in to join coffee trader Primavera Green Coffee in December 2024.

In a LinkedIn post, Caravan said Strachan brings vast coffee knowledge and a network of global producer relationships to the role.

“Jamie brings with him nine years of experience as Head of Coffee at Dark Arts, some insane coffee knowledge and some amazing producer relationships worldwide,” Caravan posted.

Caravan currently sources at least 50% of its coffee from women-owned farms as part of its Female Producer Programme. The business also donates £0.10 ($0.12) per kilo sold of the programme’s No Boundaries blend to projects that advance women in coffee growing communities.

Founded by New Zealanders Laura Harper-Hinton, Chris Ammermann and Miles Kirby in 2010, Caravan currently operates nine outlets, three coffee brew bars and a 10,000sq ft roastery in London, alongside established wholesale, subscription and e-commerce channels.
