Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club to open 100 stores in Sri Lanka by 2028

Parent company Ceylanka Trading Inc. has partnered with local franchisee Silk Five Limited to open at least 20 outlets annually from next year

Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club has signed a master franchise agreement with Silk Five Limited to open 100 cafés across Sri Lanka by 2028. 
 

The first Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club store in Sri Lanka opened in May 2023 in Nawala, with a second outlet set to open at the Colombo City Center shopping mall in September 2023.  


Parent company Ceylanka Trading Inc. and Silk Five Limited plan to open five further stores across the south Asian country by the end of 2023 before accelerating its rate of expansion to at least 20 outlets annually from next year. 


Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club are separate brands which Ceylanka Trading Inc. co-locates at single outlets serving both tea and coffee. There are currently more than 140 Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club stores across the Philippines, Sri Lanka and the UAE.  


“Being a brand that uses only pure Ceylon tea and coffee in all our recipes, we are excited for our plans to open more branches in Sri Lanka that will help in our vision of bringing this unique beverage experience closer to all Sri Lankans,” said Minodh de Sylva, Director of Ceylanka Trading Inc. 


Ceylanka Trading Inc. opened its first Island Tea Co. store in 2017 and launched Ceylon Coffee Club in 2021. The holding company is expected to launch Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club in India and the Republic of Ireland in the third and fourth quarters of 2023 respectively.
