Colombo-based Barista Sri Lanka has unveiled a new state-of-the-art procurement, food preparation, storage and distribution hub in the town of Peliyagoda.
In a press release, Barista Sri Lanka – a subsidiary of 420-store Indian coffee chain Barista – said the move will optimise production processes and reduce costs through bulk purchasing, as well as improve efficiency across its supply chain and 41 outlets.
Additionally, the hub – known as the Happiness Hub – also houses a training school with courses on food preparation, logistics and café management.
“The Happiness Hub represents a crucial step in our journey toward enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining product consistency, and supporting our growth. By consolidating procurement, production, and distribution under one roof, we aim to uphold the high standards while getting benefited from economies of scale,” said Dilupa Pathirana, CEO, Barista Sri Lanka.
Barista opened its first store in Sri Lanka in 2002 and expects to reach 50 outlets across the South Asian country by 2025. In July 2023, the coffee chain opened Sri Lanka’s first drive-thru coffee shop in Colombo.
