US drive-thru coffee chain Scooter’s Coffee has announced the appointment of former Papa John’s Marketing Director Mitch Walden to advance its digital marketing initiatives.
Scooter’s Coffee has tasked Walden with designing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns that boost customer engagement.
As Senior Director of Loyalty and Digital Marketing, Walden will also oversee the company’s website optimisation and mobile app loyalty.
Founded in 1998, Scooter's Coffee currently operates 490 stores across the US and has outlined ambitions to become the leading drive-thru coffee franchise in the country.
The US has the most developed drive-thru coffee shop market in the world and the format has proven lucrative over the last year. Although the market is still led by Starbucks and Dunkin’, Oregon-based
Dutch Bros, which operates 603 stores in the US, exceeded $1bn sales for the 12 months ended 30 June 2022.
Walden’s appointment follows that of former Restaurant Brands International executive
Patrick Coelho as Chief Development Officer and former Starbucks Vice President
Joe Thornton as company President, in May and June of 2022 respectively.
As well as serving as Senior Director for Media and Performance Marketing at restaurant chain Papa John’s, Walden also held executive media and marketing positions at vehicle accessory retailer Autozone and animal health company Elanco.
