Nebraska-based Scooter’s Coffee has promoted Mikala Friedrich to Chief Human Resources Officer.
Friedrich joined the 850-store drive-thru coffee chain in May 2018 to lead its talent acquisition team and has served as Vice President of Human Resources since July 2019.
In a press release, Scooter’s Coffee highlighted Friedrich as an instrumental figure in shaping its ‘high-performing, people-first culture’. As Chief Human Resources Officer, she will serve on Scooter’s Coffee’s executive leadership team and be responsible for aligning the coffee chain’s HR strategy and business goals, including developing management skills to support franchisee growth.
“Mikala has played a key role in building transformative leadership teams, enhancing employment practices, and driving strategic HR initiatives that support the company’s rapid growth and success. I am excited for the next chapter of her leadership and the positive impact she will continue to make at Scooter’s Coffee,” said Joe Thornton, CEO, Scooter’s Coffee.
Prior to Scooter’s Coffee, Friedrich developed and oversaw HR strategies for US retail giant Target and construction firms Kiewit and Lindsey Corporation.
Founded in 1998, Scooter’s Coffee is the fifth largest branded coffee chain in the US and the second largest drive-thru focused operator after Oregon-based Dutch Bros.
