Nespresso has opened its first boutique outlet in India and outlined plans to boost its coffee sourcing partnerships in the country.

Speaking at the new outlet in New Delhi’s Select CityWalk Mall, Nespresso CEO Philipp Navratil highlighted opportunities to tap into rising demand for premium coffee experiences among younger consumers and scale its boutique store network across India’s major metro cities.

“The launch of the Nespresso boutique in Delhi is a testament to our commitment to the growing coffee culture in India. I’m very proud of this important milestone, which will help us bring Nespresso’s unforgettable taste to Indian coffee lovers. With this new space, we invite coffee lovers to immerse themselves in an unparalleled sensory journey, where they can explore our diverse range of exceptional blends and innovative machines,” Navratil said.

Vevey-based Nestlé, which outlined a goal to grow the premium coffee category in India in April 2024, began sourcing green coffee from India for its Nespresso business in 2011. Its coffee pod division currently works with 2,000 coffee farmers in India, with almost one in five Nespresso coffee pods sold globally containing Indian coffee.

Navratil told reporters that Nespresso will increase coffee sourcing from India for its global coffee capsule range.

“Our business is set to grow significantly, not just in sales but also in the quantity of coffee we source from India. As the demand for Indian coffee continues to rise, we are committed to supporting our farmers and expanding the entire value chain,” he said.

Scaling Nespresso’s presence in India is part of a wider push by Nestlé to tap into heightened coffee consumption among India’s younger consumers. In February 2025, the coffee and food giant announced plans to launch Starbucks-branded retail coffee products in the country as part its Global Coffee Alliance with the US coffee giant.

To kickstart B2B growth in India, Nespresso has signed a distribution partnership in India with Bengaluru-based Thakral Innovations Pvt Ltd, which will sell its professional coffee machines for horeca and office clients.
