Löfbergs has added investment and international trade acumen to its Board of Directors with the appointment of Hartwall Capital executive Peter Therman.

In a press release, the Karlstad-based coffee roaster said it will utilise Therman’s expertise in analysis, change management, investments and strategic processes to scale its operations domestically and internationally.

Löfbergs currently operates subsidiaries in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the UK. In May 2024, Löfbergs highlighted Poland as a new market with ‘huge potential’

“Peter brings extensive knowledge of family businesses, investments, and international trade, which is particularly valuable to us. We are strongly focused on expanding our business beyond Sweden while also making significant investments in our roastery in Karlstad,” said Kathrine Löfberg, Chair of the Board, Löfbergs.

Therman currently serves as Deputy Chairman of Helsinki-based private equity firm Hartwall Capital, and holds board positions at Helkama Auto, which imports Škoda and Avis vehicles in Finland, and department store group Stockmann.

“Löfbergs is a highly interesting company with a strong set of values among its owners, a successful history, and a well-established brand. This provides a solid foundation for further growth, particularly in international markets,” Therman said.

Therman is Löfbergs’ second board appointment within the last six months following the addition of SAMS Norway CEO Eja Tuominen in November 2024. The coffee roaster also hired former Meira executive Trina Törnqvist as its first Chief International Business Officer in January 2025 with a remit to expand its cross-border contracts and establish a presence in new markets.

Founded in 1906, Löfbergs is one of the largest family-owned coffee roasteries in the Nordics and currently distributes its Löfbergs, Peter Larsen Kaffe and Kobbs coffee brands across 10 European markets.
