Germany’s Kamps has promoted Katharina Keil to Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for its store modernisation programme and implementing digital initiatives across its 360 outlets.

In a press release, the Schwalmtal-based bakery-café chain said Keil will oversee the rollout of a modern, customer-focused store design, digital ordering and a new loyalty app, as well as the expansion of the brand’s vegetarian and vegan product ranges.

Keil, who joined Kamps in 2011 and most recently served as Strategy Director, will also assume responsibility for sales, marketing and franchise relations. Currently, 98% of Kamps outlets are operated by franchisees.

“The appointment of Katharina Keil is an important step for Kamps. She knows the company and the market like no other, and with her diverse expertise, she will contribute significantly to the success of our growth strategy. Together we will develop innovative concepts, drive digitalisation, and further improve the customer experience,” said Friederike Stöver, CEO, Kamps.

Keil’s promotion comes as part of a realignment of its senior management team which will allow Stöver to focus more on driving production efficiencies and outlet expansion, Kamps added.

Founded in Düsseldorf in 1982, the majority of Kamps’ sites are in high-footfall transport hubs and shopping centres across the North Rhine-Westphalia region.

Kamps, which also operates two sites in the Netherlands, sources its Fairtrade coffee from the Associação dos Cafeicultores de Montanha de Divinolândia smallholder cooperative in São Paulo, Brazil, which in then roasts in-house before shipping across its stores.
