Australian appliance manufacturer Breville Group has reported strong home coffee machine sales globally and is planning to ramp up growth for its packaged coffee e-commerce marketplace, Beanz.

The Sydney-based business – which trades as Sage in Europe – achieved 10.1% year-on-year sales growth in the six months ending 31 December 2024 to reach AU$997.5m ($626m), with net profit growing 16% to $98m ($61.5m).

Breville, which manufactures a range of automatic and manual espresso machines for the at-home market, including the Barista Pro, Oracle, Infuser and Bambino models, posted double-digit coffee segment sales across each of its Americas, Asia Pacific and EMEA regional segments.

The appliance manufacturer opened a new Middle East headquarters in Dubai in January 2025 to tap into rising demand for premium at-home coffee machines. The office will facilitate the sale and distribution of Sage and Lelit coffee machines across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar.

Breville will also open a Shanghai headquarters and direct sales offices in Shenzen and Hong Kong in the coming months to boost sales in the growing Chinese at-home coffee market.

In an investor presentation, Breville provided an update on its Beanz e-commerce marketplace which curates specialty coffee roasters for buyers of its at-home espresso machines. Currently available across Australia, Germany, the UK and the US, the service has shipped 1.3 million units of retail packaged coffee from more than 100 roasters since launching in 2021 – with per kg sales volumes up 71% over the last 12 months.

“Put bad, stale grocery store coffee in a capable machine, you get a bad outcome. Beanz is a fundamental solution component that enables our customers to make café quality coffee at home,” Breville said in the presentation.

Specialty coffee roasters currently signed up to the platform include Market Lane, Padre Coffee and St. Ali in Australia, 19 Grams, Five Elephant and The Barn in Germany, Assembly Coffee, Caravan and Square Mile in the UK, and Bluestone Lane, Counter Culture and Equator Coffees in the US.
