Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs has appointed Meira executive Trina Törnqvist to the newly created position of Chief International Business Officer.

In a press release, Karlstad-based Löfbergs said Törnqvist will take up the role on 13 January 2024 and will be responsible for expanding cross-border contracts, building on the company’s international sales momentum and establishing a presence in new markets.

“We see significant potential to grow further by securing larger international contracts and entering new markets. I’m thrilled to welcome Trina Törnqvist, who brings extensive expertise in this area, to lead our efforts,” said Anders Fredriksson, CEO, Löfbergs.

Having begun her career as a restaurant manager and training consultant for fast-food chain McDonald’s, Törnqvist’s first coffee industry job came in 2004 when she joined Finnish coffee, beverage and food group Paulig as a Sales Manager. She spent 12 years with Paulig, the last four of which as International Business Development Manager for its coffee division.

Following a 12-month spell at Helsinki-based eye health group Silmäasema, Törnqvist joined Italian coffee and tea giant Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group as International Business Development and Export Manager for its Meira subsidiary, based in Finland.

“I have followed Löfbergs from afar over the years, and joining the company is a dream opportunity. I’m excited to build a team that contributes to continued international growth. Löfbergs is a value-driven company and a sustainability pioneer with a strong portfolio of products and services. This gives us a fantastic foundation to strengthen the brand and reach even more consumers,” Törnqvist said.

Founded in 1906, Löfbergs is one of the largest family-owned coffee roasters in the Nordic region and began exporting coffee in 1993. The business, which currently has subsidiaries in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the UK, reports every second cup of Löfbergs coffee as being sold outside of Sweden.
