US bakery-café chain Shipley Do-Nuts has further strengthened its development team as it seeks to shorten the timeframe between signing new franchisees and stores opening.

Texas-based Shipley Do-Nuts said the appointments of Ryan Pullin as Director of Design and Korelle Dickson as Construction Project Manager will assist franchisees with all aspects of design, permits and construction to ensure quicker store openings without costly delays.

Pullin joins the group from Texas-based general contractor Elite 3 Construction where he has served as President since September 2019. Dickson most recently served as Project Manager at Massachusetts-based real estate firm Cref.

The appointments follow that of Jonathan Massey and Fred Frey in May 2024 as Vice President of Sales and Director of Franchise Recruitment respectively.

“The construction phase can be a real pain point for franchisees, who don’t typically have a strong background in the design and build part of the process. Ryan and Korelle, who often have more experience than the general contractor, can act as the franchisee’s advocate to ensure that buildout is efficient and costs are kept lower,” said Keith Sizemore, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development, Shipley Do-Nuts.

In a bid to attract more franchisees, Shipley Do-Nuts is also diversifying its store footprint with a greater focus on shopping centres and retail parks, which it said will lower investment costs for franchisees and increase average unit volumes.

Shipley Do-Nuts currently operates more than 360 stores across 12 states and plans to nearly double its footprint by 2028. The bakery-café chain is actively recruiting franchisees across the east coast states of Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina and plans to expand to the US Midwest for the first time this year.
