Café Barbera has set its sights on further international expansion in the second half of 2024 after making its Saudi Arabia debut with a store in Riyadh’s Al Rabwa Othaim Mall.

The Italian coffee chain partnered with UAE-based foodservice group Big Apple Sweets LLC in February 2024 to open stores in Saudi Arabia. A second franchised outlet will open this month – one of seven Café Barbera expects to open globally across the next six months.

Café Barbera Managing Director Elio Barbera told World Coffee Portal that the business will also open its second small-format Mini outlet in Greece this month after making its market debut with an Athens store in November 2023.

Additionally, Cafè Barbera has finalised master franchise agreements to launch in four new markets before the end of the year.

In September 2024, the Italian coffee chain expects to open its first Indonesia outlet in Jakarta’s Kebayoran Baru district and launch in the Philippines with a site in Manila’s Green Mall shopping centre.

Cafè Barbera plans to debut in Qatar, at the Al Hazm Mall in Doha, and Mauritius the following month. If achieved, Cafè Barbera’s global footprint will reach 40 stores across 22 markets by the end of 2024.
