French specialty coffee group Terres de Café has outlined plans for further international expansion in 2025.
Founded in 2009 by Christophe Servell, the award-winning specialty coffee roaster and café chain currently operates eight outlets in France alongside three in South Korea and a single site in Switzerland.
In a press release, Terres de Café said it is seeking to build on its ‘growing reputation’ as a pioneer in specialty coffee by opening at least six new sites next year. Alongside further outlet growth in its home market, Terres de Café told World Coffee Portal it will prioritise international expansion in neighbouring Belgium and Luxembourg, while also planning a Japan launch.
Terres de Café’s stores serve as both coffee shops and retail outlets for its range of 30 packaged specialty coffees scoring between 80 and 88. The highest-grade Legends Collection is sourced in micro batches from across South America and Africa with a focus on expressing the terroir of unspoilt or restored ecosystems.
“Our fundamental value is that coffees derive their flavour and uniqueness from the terroirs from which they come. And we maintain that the most intense tastes come from protected and regenerated areas. That’s why we believe that the specialty coffee sector only makes sense in the context of agriculture that respects the living world and local communities,” said Servell, who won an Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2024 European Coffee & Hospitality Awards.
Terres de Café was also awarded Best Espresso and Best Coffee Shop in France at the 2024 Paris Coffee Show. In June, Terres de Café Head of Quality Jordan Tachnakian was crowned Cezve/Ibrik World Champion at the World of Coffee event in Copenhagen, Denmark.
