Cooks Coffee Company has announced a 10-year partnership to open Esquires Coffee stores within four Dairygold-owned Co-Op Superstores in Ireland.

Esquires Coffee currently operates 15 outlets in Ireland but is keen to significantly grow its presence in the country as part of wider plans to reach 300 stores across the UK & Ireland by 2034

Three of the new cafés will open in Co-Op Superstores in Cork with a fourth at a site in Limerick. Dairygold operates 26 Co-Op Superstores across the Irish province of Munster – where Esquires Coffee currently already operates two standalone outlets in Limerick and Tipperary.

“We look forward to building the partnership with Dairygold and to sharing Esquires’ great food, coffee and hospitality in the Co-Op cafés that we will operate with pride,” said Aiden Keegan, CEO, Esquires Coffee.

World Coffee Portal’s Project Café Europe 2024 report shows the total Irish branded coffee shop market comprises over 700 outlets, led Dublin-based Insomnia and the UK’s Costa Coffee with over 130 stores each. The market is forecast to reach 800 outlets in 2029.

New Zealand-based Cooks Coffee acquired the global rights, excluding Australia and New Zealand, to operate Esquires Coffee in 2013. In addition to Ireland, Cooks Coffee currently operates 70 Esquires Coffee stores in the UK and a further 19 licensed outlets across seven international markets.
