Krispy Kreme has partnered with Geneva-based franchisee Glazed Holding Company to open its first outlet in Lausanne, Switzerland, in the second quarter of 2023.

The outlet will feature a ‘Doughnut Theatre’, where customers can watch bakery products being prepared in-store, alongside a coffee, blended and iced beverages menu.

“We are thrilled for the Swiss to have the chance to try our freshly made doughnuts for their sharing occasions and celebrations. The Hot Light Theatre Shop will certainly be a hit, giving a front-seat view to what makes Krispy Kreme doughnuts exceptionally delicious. Opening in such a vibrant city is exciting, and we look forward to seeing the brand continue to grow across Switzerland in the coming years,” said Raphaël Duvivier, CFO & COO Market Development, Krispy Kreme.

Glazed Holding Company’s CEO Nicolas Duleroy said the franchisee will also distribute Krispy Kreme’s products via e-commerce channels and additional points of access — retail channels where its products can be purchased — across Switzerland.

Following the Lausanne outlet, Glazed Holding Company will open additional Krispy Kreme stores in the western Swiss region of Romandie ahead of nationwide expansion.

In February 2023, Krispy Kreme CEO Mike Tattersfield said Krispy Kreme will enter seven new markets in 2023, including in France, where the donut and coffee chain will open in Paris in September 2023, Costa Rica and Chile.

Krispy Kreme achieved 10.5% group sales growth in 2022 to reach $1.53bn.
