Nottingham-based 200 Degrees has reported strong first quarter sales growth as it prepares to open its 20th UK store in July 2023.

Managing Director Stephen Fern told Propel that first quarter like-for-like sales increased 12% on the same period of 2022. 200 Degrees’ wholesale business is ‘going from strength-to-strength' while online sales and subscriptions ‘continue to grow’, he added.

200 Degrees will open its 20th UK site in West Bridgford, Nottingham, on 22 July 2023 and plans to add at least two further outlets before March 2024.

The coffee roaster and café chain has several new stores in the pipeline for 2024, primarily in the northwest, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Speaking to World Coffee Portal in June 2023, Fern said 200 Degrees aims to open approximately five stores annually for the next few years.

“When growing our footprint in our home city, it really was a no-brainer to look for opportunities in West Bridgford. It’s close to our roastery on Meadow Lane, it’s home to our co-founders, and we know we already have lots of supporters in the area – mainly because they’ve been suggesting we open there for quite some time,” Fern said.

Fern was promoted to Managing Director of 200 Degrees in January 2023. Following his appointment, the coffee roaster and café chain outlined plans to double its e-commerce sales and boost its wholesale channel by 35% in 2023, as well as expand the reach of its and barista school operations.
