Tate & Lyle Sugars is moving the bottles from its highly successful Tate & Lyle Coffee Syrups range from virgin PET to Recycled PET (rPET) plastic bottles as part of its ongoing packaging sustainability commitment.

The transition, which will be complete by July 2023, will see its 750ml bottles made from 50% rPET whilst its 1 Litre bottles will be made from 100% rPET. The move will create a 14.5% reduction in plastic versus the previous version of the bottles.

This transition forms part of Tate & Lyle Sugars’ ambition to make 100% of all its packaging material, including industrial and shipping packaging material either reusable, recyclable or made from recycled materials, or renewable materials by 2030.

Nick James, Marketing Director for Europe at Tate & Lyle Sugars says: “We are delivering what customers want when it comes to indulgent and delicious flavoured beverage syrups – and now we’re helping them to reduce plastic waste too. This move is incredibly important as we look to minimise the natural resources we use, whilst ensuing any waste is eliminated, reused or recycled. Moving our beverage syrups into rPET bottles is us moving one step closer to reaching our sustainability goals in 2023.”

Tate & Lyle Sugars’ incredible selection of Coffee Syrups, including everything from mint to gingerbread flavours, will now be available in rPET packaging. The indulgent, thick and delicious flavours are the perfect accompaniment for hot and iced drinks.

The range is also a certified Fairtrade product. Stocking Tate & Lyle Coffee Syrups means support for over 20,000 small-scale farmers in developing countries.
