Ziggi’s Coffee has reached its 50th franchised store landmark, bringing the coffee chain’s total footprint to 58 stores across the US.
The new Fort Collins outlet in Colorado, which features an indoor café and a drive-thru lane, is the latest franchised location for Ziggi's, which first adopted the operator model in 2016.
Founded in Colorado in 2004, Ziggi’s now operates 50 franchise-owned stores and eight company-owned outlets across 12 US states. The chain also reports having more than 120 additional units in development across the country.
“When we started the Ziggi’s brand, we never really dreamed it would change so many lives. With a focus on being the best part of our customers’ day, we created a brand that has turned into a nationwide family. We are humbled by the growth and the commitment of our franchisees to help spread the company’s core values of putting people first, providing exceptional products and making each customer’s day a little brighter,” said Brandon Knudsen, CEO, Ziggi's Coffee.
Franchised drive-thru coffee chains have gained traction across the US in recent years as consumer demand for on-the-go coffee convenience increased during the pandemic. World Coffee Portal research from September 2022 found that 54% of US consumers prefer drive-thru locations to dine-in stores.
Ziggi’s Coffee added 19 locations in the 12 months to August 2022, representing outlet growth of 52% for the period.
Nebraska-based drive-thru chain Scooter’s Coffee opened 97 outlets during the same period to reach 490 US stores while Michigan-based Biggby Coffee added 72 stores to reach 320 across the country.
