Germany’s Melitta Group has acquired a 70% stake in premium Italian coffee roaster, Corsino Corsini.
Founded in 1950, Corsino Corsini offers a range of whole bean, ground coffee pod products for the retail, foodservice and vending markets. Its brands include Caffè Corsini and Compagnia dell’Arabica.
According to Melitta Group, the terms of the agreement, made for an undisclosed sum, will see Corsino Corsini retain its current management and main production facility near Arezzo, Italy.
In a further press statement Corsino Corsini CEO Patrick Hoffer reiterated that both companies would work together to grow their share of the market and develop new products and strategies.
“There will be no interference in the management of the company, nor plans for staff revisions; on the contrary, one of the main objectives is to grow on the territory and create new jobs… One of the reasons Melitta chose us is because we are so well known in our region,” Hoffer said.
“Just like Melitta, Caffè Corsini is a family-owned company with a long-standing tradition and very high product standards. We share the same passion for coffee. This is why the two companies are a perfect match in terms of strategic orientation, culture and business values. Our experience has shown many times that these are the ideal conditions for a successful future together, said Jero Bentz, a Chief Corporate Management of Melitta Group.
Founded in 1908 and headquartered in Minden, Germany, Melitta Group recorded annual sales exceeding €1.7bn in 2020. The company also maintains offices in Europe, the Americas and Asia, employing more than 5,800 staff worldwide.
The group’s founder Melitta Benz is noted for the development of filter coffee using blotting paper and a brass pot. In addition to its Melitta coffee and equipment range, Melitta Group also controls Brazil’s Bom Jesus coffee brand and prominent home products lines including Bacofoil and Albal.
