South Korean value-focused coffee chain The Venti is set to make its international debut in March 2025 with a store in Vancouver, Canada.

Founded in 2014, The Venti opened its first store at the Pusan National University store in Busan and currently operates over 1,300 outlets in its home market. The coffee chain has established a local subsidiary, The Venti Vancouver Canada Inc, to facilitate the move and will open its first store in Vancouver’s Richmond commercial district, which has a large Asian community.

As part of plans to ‘promote K-coffee in North America’, The Venti will serve a menu of flavoured coffees, bubble teas and blended iced beverages, as well as Korean bakery favourites, including krungjis and hohohobbangs, The Venti will be seeking to tap into growing consumer demand for value alongside Vancouver’s sizeable Korean expat community.

“Canada has a pragmatic consumption pattern and prefers cost-effective products, and interest in K-food is also high due to the Korean Wave. Canada also has one of the highest per capita coffee consumptions and British Columbia has a large Asian immigrant population, so The Venti expects to be sufficiently competitive,” a spokesperson said.

The Venti, which promotes itself as South Korea’s leading value-focused coffee chain, prices beverages between ₩1,500 ($1.04) and ₩3,000 ($2.07) and is expected offer comparable prices in Canada.

Value-for-money has become a key issue for Canadian consumers over the last 18 months amid the sustained high cost of living. In a bid alleviate financial pressure on consumers and hospitality operators, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced temporary tax relief on retail purchases, including at cafés and restaurants, from 14 December 2024 until 15 February 2025.

The Venti’s low-cost coffee offer positions it alongside McDonald’s Canada, which unveiled a new C$1 ($0.73) ‘everyday’ 10oz coffee offer across its 1,400 restaurants in July 2024 in a bid to attract price-conscious consumers.

Further highlighting the growing importance of value, Canada’s largest coffee chain Tim Hortons launched a TimSelects food value menu in January 2025 priced at CA $2.99 ($2.08).
