De’Longhi is positioning itself for a new era of growth after restructuring its professional coffee leadership team.

In a press release, De’Longhi announced that Guido Bernardinelli has stepped down as La Marzocco CEO to lead De’Longhi’s professional coffee division.

Lorenzo Carboni, Sales Director of La Marzocco since 2012, has taken over the CEO role at La Marzocco, with Stefano Barato assuming the position of General Manager at Swiss super automatic espresso machine manufacturer Eversys.

In January 2024, the Italian appliance manufacturer consolidated its La Marzocco and Eversys businesses into a single business group as part of a $374m merger. The Treviso-based group has since credited the tie-up with driving significant sales growth, enabling it to generate new synergies in the professional and pro-sumer coffee machine markets.

“This organisational strengthening in the professional division will allow us to further exploit our market leadership and the excellent technological innovation capabilities of both La Marzocco and Eversys, making the most of common resources and sharing knowledge and best practices useful to deliver more value for the group,” said De’Longhi CEO Fabio de’ Longhi.

Founded in 1974 as a household appliance manufacturer, De’Longhi began making coffee machine parts in 1993 and launched its first premium bean-to-cup coffee machine, the Magnifica, in 2003.

De’Longhi completed its acquisition of Eversys for CHF 150m ($164m) in May 2021, purchasing the remaining 60% stake in the business to add to the 40% it acquired in June 2017. The group’s parent company De’Longhi Industrial S.A. became a majority shareholder in La Marzocco in May 2021.

De’Longhi now manages a formidable roster of professional coffee machines, including the La Marzocco Leva, Linea and Strada models, alongside Eversys’ Cameo, Enigma, Shotmaster and Legacy.

It also manufactures home models under its eponymous De’Longhi brand and sells La Marzocco Linea Micra and Linea Micra lines for the pro-sumer market.

Professional and home coffee machine sales contributed 62% of De’Longhi’s total €3.5bn ($3.6bn) revenues in 2024.
