Bacha Coffee will open a €20m ($22m) flagship outlet at Paris’ iconic Champs-Élysées in the fourth quarter of 2024 as it seeks to establish a presence in the world’s major capital cities.
The Morocco-inspired heritage coffee brand said the 16,000sq ft boutique outlet marks a ‘pivotal’ moment in its global expansion and represents a ‘bold stride into the European market’.
Bacha Coffee has operated a retail boutique in Paris since April 2022, selling its packaged premium coffee products. The three-storey Champs-Élysées store will feature a takeaway coffee counter and a 50-seat café alongside a larger retail space.
Founded in Marrakesh in 1910, the original Bacha Coffee café was located in Dar el Bacha palace and was renowned for its prominent clientele, including US President Franklin Roosevelt and UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The site ceased operations after the Second World War and fell into disrepair before being revived by Singaporean lifestyle group V3 Gourmet in 2019.
V3 Gourmet now operates 24 Bacha Coffee stores across 12 markets in East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
“Bacha Coffee has experienced remarkable growth since our first international outpost in Singapore in 2019. We’ve become a household name across Asia and the Middle East, and now, we are excited to turn our focus towards Europe,” said Taha Bouqdib, President and CEO, V3 Gourmet.
Bacha Coffee achieved profitability in 2023 with annual revenues reaching $95.5m. The business contributed the strong results to robust year-on-year group sales growth in its key Singaporean market and debuts in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
The heritage brand opened its first stores in Taiwan, the UAE, Indonesia and South Korea this year and is set to launch in Japan, Macau and Saudi Arabia in 2025.
