Premium café concept Armani/Caffe has debuted in Japan with a store in Tokyo’s Omotesando shopping district.
In a press release, Georgio Armani said the café incorporates design elements that reflect its ‘strong ties to Japanese culture’ – such as traditional Japanese lanterns and a façade comprising platinum-coloured horizontal strips and luminous circles to evoke the sun.
Armani/Caffe’s premium coffee range includes hot or iced Americanos priced at ¥1,100 ($7.67), with espressos and cappuccinos priced as ¥1,300 ($9.06). The café also serves range of classic Italian lunch dishes and desserts.
Launched in 2013, Armani/Caffe is part of Georgio Armani’s growing hospitality division, which also includes the Armani/Ristorante, Armani/Lounge and Armani/Deli concepts.
The Milan-based fashion house opened the first Armani/Caffe in Cannes, France, before expanding the standalone café concept to Qatar, the UAE, the US and, most recently, India.
Armani/Caffe joins China’s Cotti Coffee, UK-based Costa Coffee, South Korea’s Hollys and Indian specialty coffee group Blue Tokai in launching in Japan over the last 12 months.
World Coffee Portal’s Project Café East Asia 2024 report forecasts the 7,800-store Japanese branded coffee shop market will reach 8,575 outlets by November 2028 at growth of 1.9% CAGR.
