South Korean bakery giant SPC Group is set to appoint former Shinsegae Group senior executive Lim Byung-sun as CEO.

Seoul-based SPC Group, which owns the Paris Baguette bakery-café chain as well as licensed Dunkin’, Baskin Robbins and Shake Shack outlets, said the appointment will be finalised by 20 October 2024.

With SPC Group led by Chairman Hur Young-in and each of its food & beverage brands also headed by a CEO, SPC’s group CEO is responsible for overseeing the business’s administrative and departmental functions.

In a press release, SPC Group said Lim will oversee the group’s human resources, legal, corporate relations, compliance and public relations. He will also lead the group’s SPC Way Committee, a consultative body comprising the CEOs of SPC Group’s affiliate businesses – including Paris Baguette parent group Paris Croissant, BR Korea, which operates more than 900 Dunkin’ stores across South Korea, and Samlip General Food.

“We expect our new CEO to drive innovation in our organisational culture and enhance communication among affiliates. Lim will contribute to SPC Group’s goal of becoming a ‘global great food company’,” an SPC official said.

Lim led Shinsegae’s furniture brand, Shinsegae Casa, from 2019-2021 before serving as Vice President of the conglomerate’s department store division until the end of 2022.

Founded in Seoul in 1945, SPC Group operates more than 3,750 Paris Baguette stores in South Korea alongside 600 internationally. Alongside Dunkin’, Baskin Robbins and Shake Shack, the group’s licensed food and beverage portfolio also includes premium Italian coffee chain Caffè Pascucci, specialty coffee group Coffee@works, US beverage franchise Jamba Juice and French bakery chain LINA’s
