French contract catering and facilities management group Sodexo achieved 5% year-on-year sales growth last year, with revenues driven by a greater focus on its foodservice segment.

Sodexo’s total sales in the 12 months ended 31 August 2024 reached €23.8bn ($25.7bn), with the group’s food services and facilities management segments achieving 9.3% and 5.5% sales growth respectively.

Food services – including catering services across offices, hospitals, leisure facilities and educational campuses – accounted for 66% of group revenues during the period, up from 55% two years ago.

Regionally, North America accounted for 47% of Sodexo’s total sales – with the group’s Europe and Rest of the World geographic segments generating 35% and 18% respectively.

However, European sales were boosted by a strong performance for the group’s Sodexo Live! division, including contracts for the Rugby World Cup, which took place in France between September-October 2023, and the Paris Olympics, which were held in the French capital between July-August 2024.

Sodexo Live! manages a portfolio of 500 prestigious conference, cultural, and sporting venues and major events globally.

“With our simplified structure, reorganised by geography, as a pure-player in food and facilities management services, we are mobilised on enhancing our operational execution to drive profitable and sustainable growth. Looking forward, I am confident that our progress on deploying our culinary food expertise through our food brands and our new production and distribution models, combined with strong digital features, will help us make a difference for clients and consumers,” said Sophie Bellon, CEO, Sodexo.
