Indian franchise group Devyani International Limited (DIL) has appointed Kamaljit Singh Bedi as the new CEO of its Costa Coffee franchise, effective 8 January 2025.
Bedi, who currently serves as CEO of DIL’s Institutional Business and New Business Ventures divisions, will succeed Sreejit Madhavan Nair in the role. In his resignation letter, Nair said he was stepping down due to personal reasons and to pursue other career opportunities outside the organisation.
Former Levi’s and Airtel executive Bedi joined DIL in May 2024 and will be Costa Coffee India’s third CEO in the last 18 months, following the resignation of Tarun Jain in May 2023 and the impending departure of Nair.
DIL became Costa Coffee’s exclusive Indian licensee in 2005 and opened the coffee chain’s first store in the country in New Delhi’s Connaught Place in the same year. The partnership reached 100 stores in January 2023 and 215 outlets in November 2024.
Costa Coffee achieved 41% year-on-year revenue growth in India during the second quarter ended 30 September 2024 to reach Rs. 490 ($5.8m) – 7.5% higher than the previous quarter.
