Lavazza Professional has unveiled Lavazza on the Move, a new premium self-serve coffee offer designed for high footfall public spaces in the UK.
In a press release, the workplace vending division of the Italian coffee roaster said it is seeking to become a key player in the UK on-the-go coffee market and will partner with convenience stores and petrol station forecourt operators to boost sales at their locations.
“Lavazza is a coffee that UK consumers know and love. Now moving into the coffee-to-go landscape, it’s been fantastic to receive such positive feedback from our customers so far. With the aim to become a key player in the market, we’re keen to help more convenience stores and petrol forecourts to boost business in this busy on the go world,” said Zain Hyde, Head of Sales Coffee to Go, Lavazza Professional.
The launch of Lavazza on the Move follows the Italian coffee roaster’s move in April 2024 to increase its stake in vending machine operator IVS Group – the second largest vending machine operator in Europe – for €185m ($197m) with an agreement to fully acquire the business in 2027.
Lavazza Professional has been steadily bolstering its UK vending and self-serve coffee machine footprint. In September 2022, the business unveiled a new 24/7 self-serve micro café concept for UK businesses, Moments by Lavazza Professional – bean-to-cup coffee machines serving premium espresso-based drinks alongside smart fridges offering traditional vending food and cold beverages.
In December 2023, Lavazza Professional acquired Scottish bean-to-cup and coffee vending machine operator SV24-7 Vending for an undisclosed sum.
World Coffee Portal research shows the total UK premium vending and self-serve coffee market exceeds than 20,700 units. The segment is led by Costa Express, with 13,200 units, followed by Absolute Coffee and We Proudly Serve Starbucks.
