Caffè Vergnano has credited horeca sales growth and wider international distribution as key drivers of its strong 2023 revenues.
The Piedmont-based coffee roaster and café chain achieved 7% year-on-year sales growth last year to reach €106m ($115m), with horeca revenues increasing 14% to contribute 37% of total sales.
Caffè Vergnano roasts and distributes coffee to hotels, bars, cafés, hospitality venues and direct to consumers across 90 countries. It also operates 178 Caffè Vergnano 1882 coffee shops worldwide – the majority (119) of which are in Italy.
In a LinkedIn post, the business highlighted the development of its distribution partnership with Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC), which now covers 17 markets globally. Coca-Cola HBC acquired a 30% minority stake in Caffè Vergnano in June 2021 – a move which granted the company exclusive rights to distribute Caffè Vergnano’s products in Coca-Cola HBC markets outside of Italy.
Additionally, Caffè Vergnano said it is ‘laying the foundations’ for further international growth in the coming years. In 2023, he business expanded its export reach to include Singapore, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Thailand.
Alongside its ground, wholebean and coffee pod ranges, Caffè Vergnano also sells its own coffee pod machines and branded coffee equipment, including cups and moka pots.
