Taiwanese bubble tea chain Chatime has promoted Carlos Antonius to the newly created role of Global CEO as it seeks to scale from 1,500 stores globally to 2,500 by 2027.
Antonius has served as Chatime Australia CEO since June 2015 and is credited with ‘repositioning’ the brand as the largest bubble tea chain in the country, with 200 sites.
“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to lead Chatime into the next phase of growth, and I look forward to executing our growth strategy and collaborating with the board, our leadership team, and our partners to realise our brand’s full potential,” he said.

Alongside driving outlet growth across Chatime’s 60 global markets, Antonius will also oversee the company’s brand refresh, which it began rolling out across international markets this year.
Named ‘Cups of Joy’, the refresh features an updated logo and tagline, new menu options, modernised packaging and new store designs – all focused on driving greater engagement with Gen Z consumers.
Prior to serving as Chatime Australia CEO, Antonius was Group General Manager for the Greater Eastern Food Collective – a Sydney-based franchise group operating licensed Chatime stores alongside the fast-food chains Cloud Thief and Goobne. He also worked as International Franchise Development Manager for ice-cream chain Gelatissimo and General Manager at Nando’s Australia.
