Madrid-based FoodBox-Lateral has reorganised its food and beverage brands under the umbrella of The FoodBox Group and outlined plans to significantly scale its Santagloria bakery-café chain.

Santagloria was acquired by Spanish multi-brand platform Foodbox in March 2015, which in turn was acquired by restaurant group Lateral in 2022. The hospitality group has traded as FoodBox-Lateral since June 2022 and also operates the Volapié tapas concept, Papizza franchise, QSR chain MasQMenos and Italian restaurant franchise Vezzo.

In a press release, The FoodBox Group said the reorganisation comes as it prepares for significant outlet growth, with plans to expand its total brand footprint from 250 stores to 500 over the next three years.

Santagloria is currently the group’s largest chain with over 180 outlets in Spain, three stores in Andorra and a single site in Portugal. Forty of The FoodBox Group’s 50 new outlets in 2024 have been Santagloria stores.

In July 2024, The FoodBox Group announced a capital increase of €8m ($8.4m) and obtained long-term financing for €36m ($37.8m) to support expansion of the bakery-café chain.

The FoodBox Group expects total full-year sales to reach €154m ($162m), which if achieved will represent 10% year-on-year growth.
