Saudi Arabian coffee chain Barn’s has opened its first store in Egypt at the City Stars Mall in Cairo and outlined plans to contribute to North Africa’s ‘burgeoning coffee culture’.
The fast-growing coffee chain, which has more than 700 stores in its home market alongside a single site in Bahrain, said Cairo’s dynamic coffee market will serve as a launchpad for further expansion across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
“The opening of Barn’s in Egypt marks an exciting new chapter in the company’s journey of growth and innovation. With plans to further expand its presence in Africa and beyond, Barn’s is committed to bringing its passion for exceptional coffee to new markets worldwide,” said Mohamed Alzain, CEO, Barn’s.
Founded in 1992 by the Al Amjaad Group, Barn’s has outlined ambitious international ambitions over the last 18 months as it bids to reach 1,000 outlets globally by 2030. The coffee chain has signed Memorandum of Understandings to launch in Oman and the US, partnered with Premier Fine Foods to open stores in Malaysia and is currently exploring opportunities in the UAE and the UK.
City Stars Mall is one of the largest shopping centres in Egypt, with more than 750 retail units. Alongside Egyptian coffee chains Cilantro and La Poire Café, the site also houses international operators Starbucks, Caribou Coffee, Dunkin’, Costa Coffee and Espresso Lab.
