YouTube personality Emma Chamberlain has taken on greater responsibility in her retail coffee brand Chamberlain Coffee by assuming a co-CEO role.
Chamberlain founded the Los Angeles-based brand in 2019 and has led its marketing efforts as Chief Creative Officer since its inception. Having already increased her responsibilities from social media campaigns and brand partnerships to overseeing wider retail strategy, Chamberlain has now stepped into a new co-CEO role alongside Gustav Hossy. The duo have succeeded Christopher Gallant, who had been CEO since 2021.
In an interview with Forbes, Chamberlain – who has nearly 30 million followers across various social media platforms – said she has amassed the necessary ‘knowledge and experience’ to confidently ‘step up and co-run this company in a way I was not ready for prior’.
Hossy is a co-owner of European investment firm Blazar Capital, Chamberlain Coffee’s first investor and the lead party in the brand’s $7m funding round in June 2023. The Danish national has advised Chamberlain Coffee since 2019 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2020.
“Emma and I, as CEOs, are committed to take the company to new heights while staying true to our vision of creating a coffee brand that resonates with our consumers,” he wrote on LinkedIn.
Hossy told Forbes that Chamberlain will retain responsibility for marketing and branding while he picks up more traditional CEO duties, including driving profitability and increasing retail distribution.
Chamberlain Coffee currently sells a range of wholebean, pod and ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee products direct-to-consumer via its e-commerce site and across more than 12,000 retail stores – including Walmart, Target and Circle K.
Popular among younger coffee consumers, Chamberlain Coffee has previously launched pop-up stores in partnership with New York-based Blank Street,Texas-based La La Land Kind Café and Los Angeles’ Carrera Cafe.
