Vauxhall unveils one-off Mokka Electric car with barista bar in the boot  
 

UK-based car manufacturer Vauxhall has unveiled a new one-off electric vehicle (EV) concept, the MOKKA COFFE-E. Vauxuall says the spin-off from its Mokka Electric car range was developed after in-house research found 75% of EV drivers choose to charge their vehicle close to where they can purchase coffee. The concept, which will not be made available for general sale, features a compact espresso machine and coffee pod machine in its 310-litre boot, alongside an integrated milk steamer, coffee grinder, knock box and fridge. Luton-based Vauxhall has also curated six coffee blends roasted by Sheffield-based Cafeology for its EV concept. 
 

Lavazza expands sports sponsorship network with new FC Copenhagen tie-up 
 

Premium Italian coffee roaster Lavazza has expanded its partnership with FC Copenhagen, becoming the Danish football club’s Official Coffee Partner until 2028 and widening the scope of the sponsorship to include its newly formed women's team. Turin-based Lavazza, which has sponsored FC Copenhagen’s men’s football team since 2020, will hope the deal has the same impact as its partnership with London-based football team Arsenal – where it has sponsored the men’s team since 2018 and the women’s since 2021
 

Nespresso USA launches new line of honey products 
 

Coffee pod giant Nespresso USA has ventured beyond coffee for the first time with a new range of honey and honey-based syrup. Harvested from coffee blossom nectar, the Nespresso Bloom range features raw Coffee Blossom Honey, which can be added to coffee, breakfasts and pastries, and a Coffee Blossom Honey Syrup, which is infused with Nespresso coffee. 
 

Gloria Jean’s owner Retail Food Group to rebrand as Savora Brands 
 

Australia’s Retail Food Group (RFG), which operates the Gloria Jean’s, Mister Donut and Brumby’s Bakery café brands, has announced plans to rebrand to Savora Brands Limited. In a press release, the franchise group said the change marks an important milestone in its evolution and better represents its commitment ‘for positive customer experiences'. The new name symbolises a ‘forward-looking vision’ and dedication to building on RFG’s strong retail brand, the group added. Shareholders will be asked to vote in favour of the proposed name change at RFG’s AGM meeting later this year. 
 

McDonald’s UK steps up value-focused coffee competition with lower priced beverage range
 

McDonald's has reduced the price of its coffee beverages in the UK by approximately a third in a bid to gain share in the country’s value-focused coffee shop market. The changes, which came into effect on 21 August 2024, mean americanos are now priced from £1.39 ($1.84) while lattes, cappuccinos and flat whites now begin from £1.99 ($2.63). World Coffee Portal research shows UK branded coffee shop market leader, Costa Coffee, prices12oz americanos at £3.25 ($4.29), Starbucks at £3.20 ($4.22), while value-focused Greggs sells the same beverages for £1.85 ($2.44). A 12oz latte at the three chains currently costs £3.80 ($5.02), £3.55 ($4.69) and £2.35 ($3.10) respectively.
