Texas-based la Madeleine has appointed seasoned franchise executive Mark Ramage as Senior Director of Franchise Development to support the bakery café chain’s US expansion plans.
Ramage, who previously held similar posts at restaurant chains Wingstop, Twin Peaks and Chicken Guy, will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of la Madeleine’s franchise development, with a primary focus on the brand’s expansion in its key markets of Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
la Madeleine currently operates more than 86 stores across nine states. Ramage has outlined a goal of signing and developing 50-100 new locations in the next five years.
“My journey with la Madeleine started as a customer and being a fan of the quality food and French feel at each café. I believe in the enormous potential for la Madeleine nationwide and look forward to leading franchise growth as the company enters its next phase of expansion,” he said.
Founded in 1983 by French businessman Patrick Esquerré, la Madeleine was sold to a group of investment companies in 1998 before being acquired by Groupe Le Duff in 2001 for an undisclosed sum. Groupe Le Duff also operates the French bakery café chain Brioche Dorée, which has 11 stores in the US.
