PJ’s Coffee has opened three outlets in one day as part of wider plans to open 35 new stores across the US this year.

The franchise operated coffee chain has opened 22 new stores in 2023 to-date, and more than 40 over the last 12 months, to reach 174 outlets. PJ’s Coffee forecasts it will open a further 13 stores before the end of the year, with more than 100 sites in development.

“We believe our commitment to quality and unique menu offerings, along with delivering memorable guest experiences, separates us from other traditional coffee franchises, and it’s reflected in our rapid growth. We are always looking for opportunities to expand the PJ’s brand and hope to break this record again soon,” said Mark Verges, Director of Location Development.

Founded in 1978, PJ’s Coffee was acquired by Ballard Brands in 2008. The New Orleans-based restaurant group rebranded the coffee chain in 2017 and has since scaled its presence across 14 US states.

PJ’s Coffee retains a strong presence in New Orleans, where it has 27 stores, as well as the wider Louisiana state where more than 100 of its outlets are located.

Despite only currently operating two stores in Florida, PJ’s Coffee expects the state to be its fastest growing US market across the next 12 months after signing 30 franchise agreements across the cites of Orlando, Pensacola, Panama City, West Palm Beach, Destin, Jacksonville, Naples and Largo.
