Hundreds of UK coffee chains and independent coffee shops are set to take part in UK Coffee Week 2023, to celebrate the vibrant UK coffee scene and raise funds for Project Waterfall

Running from 16-22 October 2023, UK Coffee Week will see more than 450 coffee shops, including Caravan, Colonna Coffee, 92 Degrees and Allpress Espresso, join forces to support coffee growing communities.

Each business decides on their own way to raise funds – from donating 10p from every coffee sold to organising events, raffles and bake sales.

Nearly nine in ten (88%) of coffee outlets surveyed by Project Waterfall said taking part in UK Coffee Week had a positive impact on their business, from significant spikes in footfall and attracting new customers to sparking conversations about ethical and sustainable practice.

This year, UK Coffee Week has also teamed up with some of the brightest, up-and-coming culinary stars on Instagram & TikTok to create the Coffee Moments cookbook. The publication will feature a curated selection of recipes that capture the essence of everyday coffee rituals – including breakfast, brunch, desserts and coffee cocktails from chefs such as Alfie Steiner, Dr. Chintal Patel, and Zena Kamgaing.

Since 2011, Project Waterfall has completed 20 projects across Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Nicaragua and Vietnam. This year, 100% of proceeds from UK Coffee Week will support Project Waterfall’s latest initiative in the Berbere district of Ethiopia which is set to reach a further 40,000 people with clean water by 2025.

“UK Coffee Week is an opportunity for us all to come together and make an impact on the communities that make our livelihoods possible. We’re always blown away by the support from the industry - it’s wonderful to see so many coffee shops coming together in support of such a great cause,” said Rebecca Hodgson, Director of Project Waterfall and UK Coffee Week.

Official sponsors for UK Coffee Week 2023 include long-life milk brand Just Milk, specialty coffee retailer Artisan, coffee liqueur brand Kahlua and nutrition snack manufacturer Fulfil.
