Joe & The Juice has opened its first drive-thru store globally as part of its recent outlet expansion in Kuwait.
The Danish coffee and juice chain partnered with local franchisee Ali Abdulwahab Al-Mutawa Commercial Co. (AAW) in December 2022 and opened its first Kuwaiti store in March 2023 at the Argania Complex shopping centre in Shuwaikh.
AAW has opened two new Joe & The Juice stores in Kuwait in October 2023, at the Sahara Golf Resort in Subhan and Al Andalus Mall in Hawally, the latter of which is Joe & The Juice’s largest store in Kuwait and its first drive-thru site globally.
The stores bring Joe & The Juice’s total Kuwaiti footprint to six stores.
Kuwait is the fourth largest market in terms of outlets across the Middle East and North Africa region, at more than 655 outlets. Led by international chains Starbucks, Costa Coffee and Caribou Coffee, World Coffee Portal research forecasts the Kuwaiti branded coffee shop market will exceed 800 outlets by 2027.
In April 2022, Joe & The Juice CEO Thomas Nørøxe outlined the chain’s goal to open 200-300 franchised outlets across the Middle East within ten years.
The business, which also operates 11 outlets across the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, recently announced plans to debut in Bahrain after agreeing a lease with Seef Properties for a store in the Al Liwan mixed-use development, Hamala.
Joe & The Juice achieved 49% sales growth in 2022 to post record DKK 1.7bn ($247.6m) revenues and DKK 277m ($40m) operating profit.
