Joe & The Juice has appointed former Starbucks UK executive Jon James as its UK Managing Director.
James will lead the Danish coffee chain’s UK business with a focus on growing its 74-store network and has also highlighted strengthening its leadership team and introducing menu innovation among his areas of focus.
In May 2024, Joe & The Juice CEO Thomas Nørøxe said he saw the potential to open up to 500 stores in the UK as part of plans to reach 1,000 outlets globally by 2029. The UK is currently the brand’s second largest market globally after Denmark.
“I am thrilled to join at such an exciting time and look forward to driving the brand’s growth and innovation in the UK. With our investment in leadership, store development and operational excellence, we are well-positioned to take Joe & The Juice to new heights and deliver market leading products and hospitality to our guests,” James said.
James spent over 25 years working at Starbucks, starting as a Store Manager in 1998 and most recently serving as the coffee chain’s Director of UK Retail and Central Operations.
He succeeds Lauritz Bolton, who previously managed the UK market alongside the Nordic Region but will now focus so;ey on the latter markets.
James’ appointment comes less than a month after Joe & The Juice appointed former Pret A Manger and Panera Bread executive Jorrie Bruffett as Managing Director for its 67-store US business.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2002, Joe & The Juice currently operates 400 stores globally, including 72 in its home market, 67 in the US and 46 across five markets in the Middle East.
