Costa X and Caffitaly have collaborated to produce Podio, a coffee pod system designed for hotels, offices and leisure businesses.
In a press release, Costa Coffee said it had ‘drawn on Caffitaly’s expertise’, to help launch a bespoke range of end-to-end coffee solutions. Podio is the only coffee pod machine on the market capable of producing both espresso and filter coffee, according to the company.
Launched at the HostMilano trade show, Podio comes in three models, each linked to a data telemetry system providing real-time insights and updates from the Costa X Cloud, which remotely monitors performance to reduce the need for maintainence.
“We have huge confidence in our partnership with Caffitaly and our joint plans for the future. We truly believe the range of propositions available from Costa X will revolutionise how and where barista-quality coffee can be served,” said Philippe Schaillee, CEO, Costa Coffee.
Formed in January 2023, Costa X is the business-to-business division of UK-based coffee chain Costa Coffee. The company has soft launched the Podio range in select eastern European markets and plans to introduce the machines to the UK, western European and international markets in the coming months.
Coffee pod machine manufacturer Caffitaly also produces the Caffitaly M29H workplace pod machine for Costa Coffee, which is distributed in several European markets, including Switzerland, Poland and Romania.
Caffitaly also counts Germany’s Tchibo, Israel’s Espresso Club, US-based The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs and Switzerland’s Chicco d'Oro among its retail partners.
