Taiwan’s HWC Coffee has opened a flagship store and coffee academy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The specialty coffee chain opened its first store in Malaysia at the 1 Utama Shopping Centre in April 2022 and now operates 29 outlets across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuching and Seremban.
HWC Coffee said the flagship site will strengthen its position in Malaysia's specialty coffee market, and is its first store to offer manual brewing methods.
During the opening ceremony, CEO Zenda Ng said the outlet will offer eight new single origin specialty coffee varieties, including the HWC Taiwan Alishan Honey Roasted Coffee, which scored 93 out of 100 in the Coffee Review evaluation.
“This marks a significant milestone in promoting high-quality specialty coffee and meeting the demand of coffee lovers in Malaysia for exceptional coffee,” Ng said.
HWC Coffee’s academy, which will offer a barista training programme and specialty coffee courses, is set to open at Kuala Lumpur flagship site in July 2023.
HWC Coffee expects to reach 50 stores across Malaysia by the end of 2023. The specialty coffee chain has 70 outlets in Taiwan and opened its first store in Brunei in May 2023.
