Italian on-the-go coffee chain 12oz has opened its first store in Greece in partnership with Attiki-based Foodrinco Group.
The Athens outlet is 12oz’s first international site and is the first of three Greek stores slated to open within the next 12 months.
Foodrinco Group, one of the largest distributors of horeca products in Greece, has become 12oz’s master franchisee for the Balkan peninsula and plans to open 50 stores across Greece and neighboring Cyprus, Bulgaria, Albania and North Macedonia by 2028.
“We are excited about this partnership. We want 12oz to become a success story in Greece. We plan to open three stores within a year and have the ambitious goal of developing a network of 50 stores in Greece and neighbouring countries such as Cyprus, Bulgaria, Albania and North Macedonia within the next five years,” said Georgios Vytogiannis, President of Foodrinco Group.
Founded in Milan in 2015, 12oz operates 25 small-format stores and kiosks in high-footfall urban locations aross Italy, catering to what it says is growing demand for ‘speed of service’ among younger consumers.
“We are very confident in the potential of the project, as our offer fits perfectly with the habits of the local population but also with millions of tourists who visit the city,” added David Nathaniel, CEO of 12oz.
12oz is the third Italian coffee chain, after Caffè Vergnano 1882 and Puro Gusto, to enter the Greek market, which comprises more than 2,000 stores.
World Coffee Portal research forecasts the total Greek branded coffee shop market will exceed 2,500 outlets by 2028.
